Privacy & Security Counsel

Job Description

• Collaborate with product and business teams from the initial stages of product development and beyond, ensuring the identification and mitigation of legal risks • Counsel internal research and product teams on the practical impact of privacy laws • Provide global privacy-forward advice, design policies/playbooks to maintain compliance with local privacy laws and regulations • Conduct legal research and analysis on emerging privacy and security issues, providing insights and recommendations to mitigate risks • Develop and conduct role-specific privacy trainings • Manage internal privacy compliance programs and processes • Assist in responding to data privacy and security incidents, including breach notification obligations and regulatory inquiries • Stay updated on developments in privacy and security laws and regulations

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and membership in at least one US state bar • 5+ years of legal experience directly in privacy law, including at a major law firm and/or in-house experience • Expert knowledge of US and international privacy and security laws, regulations, and industry standards • Experience advising on international privacy legal risks and mitigations and workstreams • Fundamental understanding of SaaS technologies, cloud tech stacks, and privacy program implementation with companies such as Motive • Effective analytical, research, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical advice for non-legal stakeholders • Effective communication and presentation skills • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
