Senior Accounting Manager
Job Location: San Francisco, California
Salary: $140,000 - $190,000 a year
Job Description
• Manage the monthly financial close process, procuring accurate, relevant, reliable financial reports in a timely manner • Participate in the ongoing development, establishment, and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes • Own hierarchy and scalability in the chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger ensuring efficient reporting for various legal entities and business units • Be a strategic partner in developing and implementing cost allocations across project and mandate-related efforts • Leverage past experience with technical accounting to analyze more complex areas (compensation, options, tax, investments) and document appropriate treatment in memo format • Lead tax compliance, Collaborating with external advisors to ensure successful R&D credit analysis and IRS sec 174 compliance • Manage tax jurisdictions, including user system access, jurisdictional rate changes, notices, liabilities, and overpayments. Manage the relationship between the payroll provider and the regulatory agency • Partner with internal teams and outside advisors to structure investments, considering international tax considerations as needed • Design, implement, maintain, and enforce company policies, processes, and internal controls including controls around cash and crypto movements • Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices • Lead Stellar's annual insurance renewal, benchmarking for appropriate coverage • Administer 2023 and future 401k audits by interfacing with external auditors, payroll support, and the 401k provider
Qualifications
• 10+ years of progressive experience in Finance and Accounting, with a strong bias for accuracy and driving the business • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in finance, or accounting • Active CPA, with a strong understanding of GAAP / FASB standards • Audit Experience • Tax Experience • Experience with Quickbooks, Insurance, and Payroll • Demonstrated ability to work independently across multiple projects and systems against deadlines • Highly analytical, data-driven, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and project management skills • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and comfortable interacting with leaders at all levels • Curious, motivated, collaborative, flexible, and responsive team player with a strong customer focus
