Backend Engineer

Job Description

• Architect and build distributed services for customer facing applications • Plan for current and future scalability • Collaborate with other engineers to build seamless products • Drive technical design, specifications, and implementation for backend services • Technologies used include: Cloud platform - GCP, Programming languages - Java, Kotlin, Python, Web frameworks - Spring Boot, Flask, Messaging system - Google PubSub, Data warehouse & databases - Postgres, BigQuery, Kubernetes & Docker

Qualifications

• On-site in San Francisco or Denver • 1-4 years of experience • Expert object-oriented programming understanding • Experience using transactional databases • Experience building distributed systems • Understanding of web development & frontend communication • Strong communication skills • Ability to simplify complex problems into simple solutions • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility • Comfortable making trade-offs between quality, complexity, and speed-of-delivery • Things that will differentiate you: Proven experience taking large projects from ideation to production, Experience with greenfield projects, Past knowledge of databases, data warehouses, distributed computing frameworks, etc., Working knowledge of cloud-native data engineering infrastructure
