Lab Operations Manager
Job Location: San Francisco, California
Job Description
• Manage day-to-day operations of the laboratory facility, including equipment maintenance, inventory management, and safety protocols. • Monitor and manage laboratory supplies and consumables inventory to support ongoing experiments. Place orders for lab materials, chemicals, and equipment as needed. • Manage the reception and inventory of laboratory supplies, ensuring accurate tracking and organization of incoming deliveries. • Implement efficient lab layouts and storage solutions. Maintain cleanliness and organization within the lab spaces. • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to optimize workflow and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards. • Maintain accurate records of laboratory activities, including experimental data, equipment logs, and inventory databases. • Enforce safety protocols and best practices to maintain a safe working environment. Train and supervise laboratory staff, ensuring adherence to protocols and guidelines. • Collaborate with research teams to understand their specific needs and provide support. • Oversee the disposal of lab waste materials, and coordinate with the facility's site manager for compliant and efficient disposal procedures. • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab operations. • Coordinate repairs and service requests with external vendors. Perform regular maintenance, calibration, and record-keeping for laboratory equipment. • Evaluate and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance laboratory efficiency and capabilities. • Schedule meetings, coordinate team lunches, and attain to onsite operational needs as required.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (Master’s preferred) • Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment • Experience working in a relevant scientific field or equivalent experience (Previous experience in lab operations or a related role is preferred) • Proven track record of strong organizational and managerial skills • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and safety protocols • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment • Proactive attitude and ability to take ownership of tasks until completion • Valid driver's license with means to drive to and from off-site warehouse and store overflow lab supplies.
